About the Author
Kenneth Coleman was professor of history at the University of Georgia and the author of numerous books about the state. He coedited the "Colonial Records of Georgia" (Georgia).

If you enjoy a completely white perspective and the word Negroes used ...

I can't believe GSU still uses this book for their Georgia State History exam. It is racist as s*** and completely outdated. If you enjoy a completely white perspective and the word Negroes used constantly this book is for you! For reference, I'm a white dude from Washington State.
UGA uses a much better book which I also read and there is a fairly detailed history outline by the Georgia Historical Society that's really well done.

Don't buy this to pass the Georgia History bypass test given at Georgia colleges anymore.

I bought this so I could pass the Georgia History bypass test that you have to take if you transfered your history credits to a Georgia college/university. They have now changed the test and this book isn't much use at all. You are just as well to catch up on the history with an encyclopedia or internet sites. As advised by the Georgia regents, I used only this book, and read it twice (not knowing that they had changed up the test without notice) and barely passed because many of the questions on the new test are not covered in this book. Plus it is a very boring read.
